courtyard House
The new-construction duplex was built for 2 families in a densely populated residential area of Tokyo. Two separate living wings were anchored by a shared entrance foyer and courtyard that were strategically placed to bring ample sunlight into each wing and create a central garden secluded from the surrounding buildings and streets. The careful placement of architectural components provides privacy for each family while maintaining a sense of community and a dialogue with nature in this urban setting.
