In this new-construction home, the steep site and towering trees that border it offered the opportunity to create elevated living spaces set within the landscape that provide both views and privacy. Nature is brought in by framing views just so, incorporating the breezes and sunlight, laying out rooms that seamlessly transition to the outside, and crafting outdoor living spaces. The house is oriented to capture the morning sun, and the lush trees filter sunlight gently in the warm months. It is a tranquil retreat just outside of Washington DC.
