Kitchen Noir

The new kitchen transformed this colonial from the early 1930’s. The open floor plan and central island were designed to promote gatherings. The cozy breakfast nook with bay windows brings in sunshine and provides a view of the yard. The kitchen opens out to the rear garden through sets of large french doors.

The oak cabinets were darkened with a hand application of steel wool and vinegar, resulting in a soft matte black, freshly contrasting the off-white walls. The kitchen is intended to feel like part of the living room.
