Decolonial

A growing family was in need of more space, which also presented an opportunity for the existing 1960’s colonial house to get a boost in architectural character and details.

The great room was added in the rear to house the kitchen, dining, and living rooms. The corner glass wall in the living room brings in the morning and early afternoon sunlight, and provides a grand view of the yard. With 3 young boys, function and ease of maintenance were the priority. The open kitchen has a spacious island with organized storage for specific items, and leads to the outdoor living space. Above the great room is the primary suite with a view of the surrounding trees. The new roof was built with more angle and overhanging eaves to give depth and an improved proportional balance to the facades.
